Reading and comprehension
For students in grades 1–6 of primary school
The programme is intended for students who need additional support with reading comprehension and identifying important information.
Reading is not the same as understanding
A child may read a text fluently, but that does not necessarily mean they have understood it.
Through individual work we develop:
- reading comprehension
- identifying important information
- distinguishing key information from less important details
- retelling in their own words
- answering questions about the text
- connecting information
- drawing conclusions
- building vocabulary
Tailored to the child
The content and difficulty of texts are adapted to the student’s age and needs. The work is individual and focused on gradual progress, confidence and understanding.
The programme is especially useful when a child has difficulty retelling a text, identifying the main information or answers from memory without genuine understanding.
